Indications for osteopathic treatment

I. For adult patients:
 


1) Orthopedics:

  • violation of posture (scoliosis);

  • pain in various parts of the spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral);

  • herniated discs.

 

2) Neurology:

  • headache;
  • memory loss, deterioration of mental activity;

  • dizziness;

  • diseases of peripheral nerves;

  • vegetative-vascular dystonia;

  • vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI);

  • consequences of neuroinfections;

  • limb numbness.

 

3) Rehabilitation:

  • consequences of injuries (for example: fractures, sprains, concussions of the brain);

  • after various illnesses and surgeries.

 

4) ENT pathology:

  • frequent colds;

  • chronic rhinitis;

  • sinusitis;

  • otitis;

  • hearing loss.

 

5) Gastroenterology:

  • heartburn;

  • belching;

  • stomach ache;

  • constipation;

  • heaviness in the stomach after eating;

  • irritable bowel syndrome.

 

6) Urology:

  • urination disorders: frequent and/or imperative urge to urinate, stress urinary incontinence;

  • recurrent cystitis.

 

7) For women:

  • heavy and/or painful menstruation;

  • varicose veins;

  • prolapse of internal organs.

 

8) For men:

  • decrease in potency, deterioration of erection;

  • pain in the perineum.

II. For infants:

 

  • consequences of birth trauma;

  • delayed psychomotor development;

  • hypo-/hypertonicity of muscles, asymmetry of muscle tone;

  • sleep disorders;

  • hip dysplasia;

  • poor appetite, insufficient weight gain or a tendency to be overweight;

  • frequent regurgitation during or after feeding;

  • childbirth by caesarean section;

  • the child is restless, often naughty;

  • malocclusion;

  • difficulty sucking at the breast;

  • strabismus;

  • colic;

  • asymmetric skull, face;

  • constantly protruding tongue;

  • torticollis;

  • hydrocephalus;

  • the child often hits himself on the head, forehead, ear;

  • frequent constipation;

  • clubfoot;

  • umbilical hernia (except congenital).

 

III. For children over one year old:
  • violation of posture (scoliosis);

  • headache;

  • attention deficit hyperactivity disorder;

  • dyslexia;

  • pain in the lower extremities;

  • ENT pathology;

  • delayed psychomotor development;

  • vision problems: myopia, strabismus;

  • flat feet;

  • frequent colds;

  • enuresis (urinary incontinence) (if there is no congenital pathology of the sacrum);

  • rehabilitation after illnesses, operations, injuries;

  • shaky, unsteady gait, tendency to frequent falls;

  • tiptoe walking.

 

IV. For pregnant:
  • headache;

  • pain in the neck, shoulders, lower back;

  • fatigue, mood swings, irritability;

  • nausea, heartburn, constipation;

  • pulling sensations in the lower abdomen, increased tone of the uterus;

  • pelvic presentation of the fetus.

 

V. For young mothers:
  • violation of posture that arose after childbirth;

  • phlebeurysm;

  • prolapse of internal organs;

  • pain in the spine, epidural or spinal anesthesia in childbirth;

  • urination disorders;

  • childbirth by caesarean section.

 

Contraindications for treatment by an osteopath are conditions that require emergency specialized care (for example: acute infectious diseases, mental disorders in the acute stage, acute surgical diseases, acute bleeding).
